2011 Copper Canyon 314FWRLS 5th Wheel. Good for full time?

Just the wife and I. Full hookups. No road travel. Plan on living in it for the next 3-5 years. Any reviews? Recommendations? Haven't purchased anything yet, but this one is at it's lowest price by the dealer which is $21,300. That's $1,300 more than my wife wanted to go. 5th wheels seemed to make the most sense to live in as far as full time due to the size. Any suggestions? Thanks. First time RVers.

  • We have a 2006 33ft Copper Canyon, it has been a good unit, we are on our 4th Sprinter model. We have stayed in ours from 4 to 8 weeks at a time and had no problems, you have to learn how to contain heat and air to keep it comfortable but most people have to learn how to do that regardless of what kind of trailer they have, it is a good trailer and I would buy one again with no questions asked. Good traveling.
  • You can full time in most any fifth wheel.

Long term durability will vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. Just depends on how solidly built any particular unit is to start with.

But, since it is not being moved, your call. Really go over it with a fine toothed comb before accepting it from the dealer.

If you know where you'll park it maybe that park has some people want to sell. Just a thought.
Floor plans are real important for most full timers being you'll be using it a lot. Our park always has some for sale (park models and regular RV type)

There is one example. It's 40 feet long and even has a sliding glass door. The floor plan might not be exactly what you're looking for but it's got a ton of space for under 20k

Edit: I have no idea about the quality of that Forest River cherokee park model. Just as an example of what park models are or can be. You can probably get a nicer model than that for less than say 16-17k if you can find a used one.
  • Are destination trailers or park models in our budget? Or is it something that just came out? Haven't even seen one before.

DW and I plan on at least a year and a half to two years in ours after I retire in about three years. We plan on traveling around the country during that time.

  • I would do a search for some full time RV'ing threads. Tons of knowledge here regarding that subject.

The Copper Canyon seems to be a good outfit. A neighbor of mine down the block has one and he hasn't complained about it but he also isn't full timing in it either.

Have you considered any of the destination trailers or park models? They are more like a mini single wide mobile home. 3-5 years in the same trailer is a long time.
