my boys 1/2 ton ford 2013 ecoboost has 4 wheel discs my Dodge ram diesel 98.5 has only two wheel disc up front 1 ton wheel cyl. in rear with drums.

First, have you bought the truck yet? If so, what is the payload per the yellow sticker on the drivers door jamb? What are the weights of the Lakota? I have a 2003 Coachmen 30' 9600lbs GVW. I would pull this with an EB, if it had the Heavy duty tow and payload. You need to get all the numbers together before anyone can really help you. Otherwise all anyone can do is guess. No way would I tow a 5er with a 1/2 ton EcoBoost. You are pin weight limited and GVWR limited. You need to a 3/4 ton truck if you want a 5er over about 24'.

Yes you will need to have some concerns with a 1/2 ton towing a fifth wheel. Most 3/4 ton's have problems with exceeding the GVWR while towing a fifth wheel too. Yet it is possible. No you do not require towing a 25' trailer, you should be able to find a 30' or 32' with a light pin weight. Not a Montana, or Grand Teton. But some of the lightweight, and other trailers should be fine.

If it is a shortbed, then Superglide hitch is another requirement to make it work right, without the front of the trailer trying to come inside the back window.

A extended pin box can also lessen the hitch weight a little bit. That just makes the distance between the front of the axles and the pin box a little farther, and thus less weight on the hitch.

MY boy has that truck with rear air bags and super glide hitch and it pulls his 9k 5th wheel trailer like it is not there only ever issue was the front brakes seem to get hot on really steep grades. pulls better then my 99 dodge diesel with injectors and edge ez.

Look at the tire loading sticker on your door jam. It will give you an idea of available payload, which includes all passengers,gear, hitch weight, and the actual loaded pin weight of the FW ready to camp.

Pin weight will be roughly 20% of the loaded trailer weight.

I also see many people using a truck like yours, to pull a 10,000# loaded trailer, to the local CG. Most of these are overloaded, but people use what they have.
