2017 F250 and 2005 HR Presidential Hitch Height

My buddy has a 2017 Ford F-250. He just purchased a 2005 Holiday Rambler Presidential. The New Fords come stock with a built in lift kit. The camper isn’t designed for the taller TV. Trying to evaluate options. Lower the truck? Lift the camper?

Anyone else encounter this problem? Suggestions/recommendations appreciated.

  • Before height, I would make sure of the weight of the fiver. Depending on which HR Presidential, it could be too much pin weight for an F250.

  • Brochure has height at around 13 ft. They also had a triple axle configuration on some models and a Trailair suspension option that might create complications when lifting the trailer. There have been numerous posts regarding removing the 2" lift blocks from Ford trucks, can't remember if they were yea or nay.
  • My first thing to do would be to ascertain the height of the 5th wheel to make sure that it can be raised if necessary. If it's close to max safe height that limits the options.
