- fj12ryderExplorer IIIWith those axles/ratings I would bet that your wheels are rated for the higher pressures. They are usually marked on the rear of the wheel, that's where mine were marked. I pulled a wheel and checked the rating before I had the higher pressure G-rated tires mounted.
- Robert6401ExplorerLet me try to answer some of your questions. I'm familiar with the Michelin XPS ribs, I have run them on my previous rig for the past number of years. Y'all are right , Those are great tires, but like has been said they do not have the capacity that I need.
I do not know what tire pressure the wheels are rated for, I have not picked up the new trailer yet. I just know that I'm going to need to have to replace the tires soon, as they are the original tires on a 2012 Raptor 297SE. How can I find out what pressure the wheels are rated for?
Thank you all very much for all of the advice. - lawnspecialtiesExplorer

Throw those Towmax tires away or any tire that came with your RV originally. Tires that come with new RV trailers/5th. wheels are the cheapest tire the mfg. can buy to put on your new rig. American profit and greed at work!!
I made putting on Good Year LT 614 "G" rated tires a condition of my buying my new 5th. wheel. The dealer had my choice of tire put on at the factory:):) Just what works for me! Stay with LT tires.
Ditto on everything he said. The only set of Tow Max tires I had tore up our old Cyclone pretty bad. When I bought the Vengeance, a full set of GoodYear G614 235-85-16s went on as part of the deal. They are pricy but they are great. I'm running 100 psi. If money is a big factor, I'd get the Sailuns and be totally happy with them.
The only thing I use the Towmax tires on is my landscape trailers. I try to find them on craigslist when people are getting them off their camper. If a Towmax blows on my landscape trailers, it really won't hurt much except my time of changing out a tire.
Important note: do you know what psi capacity your rims have? - JIMNLINExplorer III

I don't believe in the quality of Chinese made tires so I run Michelin XPS/RIBS; an LT truck tire made in the UK. The Ribs are a commercial truck tire that Michelin OK's for trailer use. 2 1/2 years of several cross-country tows and no problems. I'll get these tires again.
Just so the OP understands the Ribs are very good tires for trailers with 5.2k-6.k axles but don't have enough capacity for the OP's 15.5 trailer with 7k axles.
As mentioned the ST Sailuns S637 G load range at 4080 lb/110 psi capacity or the Goodyear LT G614 G load range at 3750 lbs/110 psi are both a commercial grade all steel ply carcass unlike all other 16" ST E fabric tires that are problematic on heavy trailer (rv and non rv trailers).
Also check out the QR35 Gladiator F and G load range and a Hercules H-901 LT G at 3750 lbs/110 psi tires.
The 16" ST or LT G tires are all made for commercial grade use and are popular with those that tow trailers for a living (non rv).
They work fine for rv trailers. - dmck413ExplorerSailun 95 psi
- eHoeflerExplorer III up grade to 17.5" tires and wheels for the cost of new 16" tires alone.
- notevenExplorer IIIBridgestone R250's Speed rating Q on a 3 axle toyhauler.
- lincsterExplorerDual axle toy hauler has to go up to G rated tires to get enough weight rating.
Unless you don't carry alot of weight and you have had your trailer on a CAT scale to verify.
I also don't believe in an ST tire.
Lots of reading out there on this subject.
I just came home from the dunes last weekend with my cruise set at 78mph and didn't think about tires 1 bit. Love my LT tires. - azdryheatExplorerI don't believe in the quality of Chinese made tires so I run Michelin XPS/RIBS; an LT truck tire made in the UK.
