30amp to 50amp dog bone

Is it safe to use one of these to plug my 50amp trailer in at home.
I have a 30amp plug at home and mainly just want to keep the batteries charged.
Thanks
  • according to my manuals on my new to me 5ver it really depends on amp draw, the converter trickle charges the bat so I would assume the amp draw for charging is under 15 ?
  • The battery (ies) will stay charged on a 15Amp household outlet, with the right stack of adapters. That will also run the fridge and lights (at the same time).

I have a 30Amp in the yard and when we were upgrading the main panel for the house I had the electrician leave a spare 50Amp double breaker which I later wired for a box from Lowes to serve the driveway when we are loading.

With the right adapter, we also run the MIG welder off the 50Amp box.
  • Thanks for all the replies.
I just wanted to make sure I didnt fry something in our new to us trailer.
  • Do use a dogbone adapter, not the 'hockey puck' style. My hockey puck let out the magic smoke when I ran the amps for an air conditioner through it.
  • We are presently running our 3400RL on the 50-30 adapter at a campground and keep plugged in to 20 amp outlet while in storage via a 30-20 amp adapter. There is still enough power to operate some equipment. You will need a #10 wire extention cord if you want to run the ac though.
