- ohiopickerExplorerLaredo 27RL towing with a 2013 Ram 2500 SB Crew Cab w/Cummins & 2.43 rear gears & 6 speed auto. Tows great. Haven't weighed the rig yet, so can't give you any info there.
- dennych1ExplorerI am thinking of
going from a 34.8 ft Everest which is 11.5k loaded to a Big Horn 3160 35.6 ft which will be 13.5 loaded. I know I will be over pin weight around 500lbs . The combined weight is within specs of truck. Just wanted to see if anyone else is carrying this weight on 2500HD diesel and how has it been.
Thanks Dennis - stro1965ExplorerI pull a 38' KZ, dry pin weight is 1900 lbs or so, I think I am kinda pushing the limits.

Sure would help to have your TV and RV in your sig.
I would say since you are asking a 250-2500 won't be enough truck for what you want in a 5er.
From his profile!
2007 GMC 2500HD DA SB Crew Cab
Firestone Air Bags
Pullrite Super glide Hitch
2008 Everest Fifth Wheel 295TS
2007 could be classic or NBS!
If will pull pretty much anything that does not overload the rear axle(tires actually) pin weight wise!
Of course if it was a 3500 it would be a completely different truck, NOT!
So to OP, what is your RAWR and how much does the rear axle weigh ready to tow. Subtract ready to tow weight for the rear axle from RAWR to find allowable pin weight. Then make sure the new larger trailer is not going to have a pin weight that exceeds the capacity that is available on your rear axle.
Chris - Road_RunnersExplorerWe have towed our 30 cameo, purchased new in 2000, for over 100,000 miles, first with a '97' F-250 and now with our '06' F-250 PSD's. Fiver weighs 11,000 lbs. Both trucks were and are strictly stock.

2012 Jayco 295RKS. The FW is just under 11,000 lbs. This picture was taken before I added airbags. My 2011 Duramax 2500 is rated to tow 17,000 lbs. in a FW. This combination tows great! - GPG52_Explorer IIOne approach would be:
1)get the RV & Trailer Towing Guide (on the Internet) for your specific TV.
2)make a list of those "must have", "nice to have" & "can live without" options which you are looking for
3)determine what price range you are comfortable with
4)establish what make you prefer, proximity to dealer, dealears service record/reputation etc.
5)research, manufacturer, floor plans, spec sheets/weight, this can be found on internet
6)make a short list of what meets your needs.
6)Visit trade shows with your specific spec's in hand.
An informed decision is always the best decision.
Above all, take your time, have fun and enjoy the experience.
Keep us posted!
