5th wheel to flatbed

Hello all:
I have sold my monster slide in and purchased a 2011 Heartland Greystone 32RL 5th wheel. I have the hitch and will mount on my flat bed 3500 c/c Ram. My question is: since the flatbed is 9'4" I will have approx 58 to 60" of flatbed behind the kingpin and will this create a problem when turning? My bed corners are notched @ about 35 degrees so the bed is not straight across the back giving me some relief. I am hoping to be all set up when I pick it up as I am 1400 miles away from the 5th wheel. Thank you all in advance.

Thanks to all. I will have owner use the tape measure or string also. I believed it would probably work but I just needed some positive reinforcement. If not, will make adjustments. Thanks, and God Bless.

If your measurements say no you might want to look into a slider like a Superglide.

Sounds pretty long to me, but the best bet would be to measure from the pin to the body of the 5er...I think that would be the only sure way...maybe even get someone where the RV is to give you that distance before you make the trip...then plan accordingly.

    Did you read my post????

  • I've got one of these on a medium duty truck link

From where the kingpin sits on the hitch to the bumper pull receiver on the hauler body measures about 58" to 60". Virtually the same clearances that you've got. I have no problem with a Carriage Carri-Lite. Depends on your particular fiver but, I'm pretty sure you'll be fine.

  • I don't know about that specific trailer but on mine (Heartland Cyclone) from the pin to the front of the trailer is 6 1/2 feet (closest point). On my TV from the center of the hitch to the corner of the bed is abt 58". This is my third 5th wheel and all have had about the same amount of clearance. A piece of string 6' long held at one end where the center of the hitch will be and then swung back and forth will answer the question. Call the buyer and have them measure rom the pin to the front of the trailer and start measuring.
  • Don't have a flatbed but my F350 has 58" with the tailgate down and if the corners were cut off at a 45 then I would probably be able to handle any turn. I think you will be ok but not possitive. Good luck with the unit, I am sure you will get it home and then you can make any adjustments you may need to make.
