Benb2160, do you know that over inflating tires has a negative effect also? :h Faster wear LESS TRACTION, running an E rated tire at 80 psi, just because that is the MAX, doesn't mean it is the best!!
I run about 5,500# on my rear axle loaded, so I run between 65 to 70 psi in my rear tires. Each tire has a MAX capacity of 3,415# that it 6,830# total supporting 5,500# or 80% of max.
This graphic should help you understand.
My new truck says to air to 65psi at max load of 9,750# the tires at 65 psi are good for 9,880#, RAM is fine with a 130# buffer.
