The MDT and HDT forums provide a great answer to:

"can my XXXXX truck can pull a YYYY fifth wheel?".....

and/or

"Do I need a 350/3500 or will my 250/2500 truck work?"

LOTS of those folks "gravitate" to the HDT forums for answers to the above!

The HDT folks will never need to worry about "upgrading" to a heavier fifth wheel - (they're "there" now).
Questions on that forum are mostly about owner's tow vehicles and/or the fifth wheels they tow. (Great, friendly group!)

Bonus - a gently used HDT can be licensed as a Motorhome in most states, and will have all the whistles, bells (and more) of a new pickup for *WAY* less $$.

When singled it will do most of the "normal" things a dually pickup will do (turning, parking, etc.) - with surprisingly good mpg.

Are you weekending it or traveling during the week? I weekend and by far I see more bumper pulls than 5th wheels. But I wonder if that changes completely during the week when more long term stay or full timers are on the road.

We were out for 3 weeks the last time, and it seemed that there were more 5th wheels, but I couldn't swear to it, I don't keep count. And it seems like there's more 5th wheels in the RV parks where we stay. But it's just based on casual observations.

Must be because of all the guys with 1/2 tons buying 5th wheels.

It seems that the popularity of certain sections changes from time to time. The 5th wheels seem to have a big following, but I also noticed that the truck campers are right up there in activity as well.

They sure do pull nice with the right pickup.

It would seem logical to me, since we see more 5th wheels than bumper pull trailers or motorhomes when we're out traveling.
