If anyone was disappointed in their 5er during the last cool weather, and may be interested in one of the best “winter capable” 5er’s produced ( and wanting used)...there is a bunch of Tetons on RVT and RVTrader. The majority of them are very reasonably priced. Most are the lower end line of Tetons, but still quality units ( better than many of today’s high end units) We have no idea of the condition of these, but they may be something to consider, if you want a “cold weather” RV. We’ve owned several Tetons, and have spent many nights in ours at 20 below F and colder, without a freezing issue. OTHER, than a rear kitchen model, with a fold down bumper, offering storage (spare tire, tools, etc.). Ours would freeze the kitchen water anytime it went below 5 degrees F. One of those things that “looked good on paper”, but “failed miserably “!

I used to work for a dealer who sold Teton's. They were an awesome unit back then and known as a four-season fifth-wheel. Well made, but a tad on the heavy side.

You can’t bring a “timid” truck to the party! Most of these units are of the “lighter” variety.... though still a bit heavy!

Tetons.....good solid heavy units built in Casper until foreclosure in 2008Also consider NUWA 5th wheels......USED (again 2008 hit many RV Mfgs hard)While FTng spent several weeks in COLD weather .....-19*F was lowest.Stayed roasty/toasty and no freeze issues.Propane and good insulation are key to cold weather RVng

Interesting topic. A friend just bought a Cedar Creek Hathaway Edition by Forest River which he was told was a four season unit. Do you mean he will be disappointed when he takes it back up North and experiences single digit temperatures??

My Arctic Fox is rated as 4 season - plus it's equipped with dual pane windows. But this is mostly lost on me as I am a wuss (fair weather) So Cal camper. I suppose it's not a total loss as the extra insulation helps in hot weather too.

Many of the manufacturers now think you can add a sticker that says "Polar Pak" or "Arcric Pak" and tank heating pads make it 4 season. They have a long way to go.

Recently saw a post by a fellow with a lower price unit that was sold as a 4 season unit and even had the Polar Pak sticker. It froze up water lines with an over night low of 26 degF. Needless to say, he was pissed.

Working in northern Alberta and Saskatchewan I spent the last 3 winters in my Outdoors RV 2015 Blackstone Merlot. Average cost per month for electric (Dec thru March) was 370.00 cdn. and I went through 100 lbs propane ever 10 days. The trailer has a full skirt, I wrapped the bedroom closet slide in bubble wrap and use insulated pilllows in the fantastic fan wells (when not using the fan).

It takes work to live in your RV through the winter. The upside is the comfort and convince that I have over staying in a hotel.

2 weeks ago I purhased a RedWood RV 3901 WB. thicker walls, more roof/floor insulation, so I am hoping this trailer will be manageable through the winter as well.

While some are marketed as such theres no such thing as a true 4 season anymore. Economics have dealt a forever blow to them.

Spent the last two winters in South Dakota with temps down to -25 in a Komfort. Did go through lots of propane, but stayed nice and warm and dry. Yes. I was nervous, but all turned ok.

Entry level "4 season" trailers is just such a joke that it's kind of ruined the whole label of a 4 season trailer. I have to laugh every time I look at the "4 season rated" sticker on my Keystone Hideout. The only thing better than a tent is maybe it would keep a bear from eating me. It sure isn't going to keep the cold out :)

I look forward to the day I'm working less and RVing more and really sink some money into a quality unit. It just doesn't make sense at this point in life when it sits in my driveway 11 months a year.

I found an old Teton brochure, and thought that I’d share a picture of the cover. This was ‘91, the old “louver” style windows were still being used. With the dual pane windows and better slide seal technology, along with improved manufacturing methods....I feel that they “only improved with time”

I know that we’re pleased with our ‘04!

There's only so much one can do to insulate a 2 inch thick wall. Dual pane windows will help on any rig. I think floor construction and floor insulation would be huge. Former Carriage and now defuct Lifestyle had double insulated floors. I've found ours very comfortable in the cold.
