Has anyone noticed how MH's seem to always have upwards of 5 A/C's on them? Whereas TT's and 5ers at most have 2 and cooling approx same amount of sq ft? Why do they have so many?
A rig with 5 is probably a entertainer coach with bunks for 6-10 people. A few MHs will have 4 if it does not have the bus air conditioning system. I have three and usually only need 1-2 unless it's just after stopping on a hot day. I'll run all three to cool the MH down because of the heat from the engine if going to use the bedroom and after an hour 2 will be enough. I consider my third unit a spare one as I rarely need all three.
Rich Folks* expect to be pampered so it's easy to convince them they need up to 5 air conditioners. You can hear the salesperson speaking to the other sales folks after the sale "...So I says to the guy you deserve to be comfortable so I'm adding 5 air conditioners and upgrading the generator to a 15KW model. You'll be the only RV'er in the campground that can freeze meat in your bedroom....and he bought it. I threw in the special exterior coating for free to sweeten the deal".
Us smart 5th wheel and TT owners know we can get by with one or two and have just as much fun as the rich crowd.
* if you can justify buying 5 Air conditioners for 500 square feet of room you must be rich.
