A/C with Heat Pump, worth it?

We continue to shop for a new 5er. We see many manufacturers offer a A/C unit with a heat pump option.

1. Do you have that option?
2. Do you think it was worth it?
3. I assume it has limitations just like home heat pumps?
  • Heat pumps in general become totally useless below 40 degrees. Life expentency of residential heat pumps is around ten years. I would expect less in an RV. Worth it? Up to you, but personally we camp at times where overnight lows are around 20, so to me it becomes useless. I'll stick with the tried and true gas furnace.

  • as one who has gone thru about 8 heat pumps at my homes I hate them but think you might as well get that option. would have to be better than a heat strip.
