Adding a water filter can I use Pex Fittings on this hose

I'm working on adding a water filter to my RV. The majority of the plumbing looks to be regular blue and red PEX tubing but the area I need to tie into is called ACCOFLEX 1/2" IAPMO T. It is a clear and white tubing that looks like it has braiding in it and is connected to a T that goes to PEX and uses a crimp around it like PEX. I tried to stick a regular house PEX fitting in an end of an extra piece still laying in there and it fits looser then normal. I just want to know if I can use regular PEX fittings before I cut the line.

  • I love the Sharkbite fittings (Gator bite at Lowes). Allow connections from PEX to CPVC or copper. I use them to install my water softener and when I take it out in the fall for winterization, I just release them and hook the 2 remaining ends back together. No bypass valve.
  • Thank you for the replys the rings you have in the pictures are the ones I've used with PEX fittings in the house and I have plenty of that stuff around so I will use that to install the filter today.
  • I did the same thing, however I went to HD and bought "Sharkbite" connections, so easy & simple and NO leaks.

Same here. Another way I've worked the connections is to use a crimp ring that I got from Lowes and it seems to work with the braided hose or PEX. If you use regular copper ring PEX fittings, your connection may be a bit loose.
