Adding either electric or Manual jacks in front of tires

Gang,
I have the typical front and rear landing gear but no mater what I do I cant get the bounce out of my 43 ft KZ Inferno toy hauler. I asked the dealer about adding a set of jacks in front of the tires and they gave me a 5K quote to install a 6 point level system .... ANy one install there own leveler in front of the tires?

  • I don't have this problem- I have gad 10-12 adults in my trailer at one time and the thing still does very little rocking. However, my suggestion is to go and get two heavy duty bottle jacks. These will absolutely take the rock out of your trailer as they can lift it off the ground. They are also very nice to have around if you ever get a flat.
  • The JT Strongarms are a lot cheaper than a 6-point leveling system, and they do a great job, but a long, tall 5th wheel is going to move a little bit as long as it is still on the tires. Our 40' Fuzion still moves a little, but at least coffee doesn't slop out of my cup now. :)

The jacks mounted on the frame shown above would work too if you wanted to go that route.
  • I think you need to get the six point leveling...That way if your brother sleeps on your sofa (like he did recently), he wont complain about the bounce!

I just bought a Raptor 384, that came with the six point hydraulic system and thought what a waste of money! I now will say I wont be without it ever again.

This is what I run on my Fuzion also. The strong arms are great. I also use adjustable slide stands under my slide and coach is very solid now.

This is what you see on many Toy Haulers.
  • Here's what I did on my Cardinal.

    In front of axle.

    And behind on both sides.

    Stopped the bounce.

  • I installed manual scissor style jacks in the middle on my 31 foot Springdale. I REALLY tried to make it work for about 6 years, but finally gave up and just used the original 4 the last couple years we had the trailer. Here's why.

I could always get 4 of the 6 snug, but the other two were always loose. No matter what combination I attempted, or order of tightening, I always ended up with at least one jack not snug. So finally I gave up. Did it help the shake in the camper. No, not really.

Now, I have a 35 foot trailer, and with the 4 jacks only, I have very little movement. I really don't know why the two trailers are so different, but definitely much happier with our current trailer.

I have been in trailers where the owners used JT Strongarms on their (5th wheel), and it was rock solid. It was amazing.

I've learned to accept the wiggle now. Don't even notice it any more. Sometimes at night when the wind blows real hard and the trailer wiggles a little, it reminds me of the two Carnival Cruises we went on, and laying in bed, you could sometimes feel the movement of the ship. Very good memory there, so I've learned to enjoy the wiggle now.
