  • it works in our montana, a 3402. the only downside is that i hit my head when i am brushing my teeth and rising my mouth.
wife put all of her stuff in the other sink area.

Our half bath in our Cougar 293SAB is for the bunk room in the rear. For obvious reasons, it works well to keep the kids out of our bathroom. In our case, I don't think there is a downside other than a tank to empty and keep track of.

I have a similar floor plan and I consider the additional 1/2 bath a huge negative.
The idea seems good however dealing with the 2nd pair of tanks is more trouble than it's worth. Instead of having a reasonably full tank to dump. You have 2-1/2 empty tanks to dump.
The additional bath is convenient when the kids bring friends but in general it has become a waste of space. I don't allow the kids to use it because I don't want to dump the tanks. (which have very little in them).
Our 1/2 bath has slowly become a storage closet/pantry!
If I could do it again. I would avoid the 1/2 bath.Keep in mind I have a 5 man crew. If we traveled with more people or full timed the 1/2 bath maybe more worthwhile. As a weekend warrior I find the 1/2 bath a poor use of space
  • We have had only one bath in our trailers and now our fifth wheel. never needed the extra bath. for me i would rather enjoy the extra space and the kids and grandkids are only with us once in a while. that's us. Good Luck & Be Safe ! ! !
  • The half bath takes up kitchen/living room space.

That said, we chose a toyhauler with a half bath for the convenience of not having to track all the way through the trailer to get to the main bath. The black tank empties into the main sewer line and the gray water drains to the kitchen gray water tank. It does mean two more drain valves to open.
  • Disadvantage- It's a chunk of space that could be used for other things.

Advantage- If you have kids or camp with several people it could be a benefit.

I fulltime with kids and my wife wouldn't even look at an RV that didn't have at least a private entrance to the main bath from the master bedroom. The half bath works even better though as the kids only need the master bath to shower, and when everyone is trying to get ready at the same time it is a real time saver.

Once the kids move out, if we look for another RV, I probably wouldn't want to give up the space for an added half bath.
  • If you are just a couple, it's a waste of good space.

If you will have 6-8 people staying in the RV it could be handy...or you can just tell the kids to walk to the bath house unless it's an emergency.

  • If you have a Front Bath floor plan and have frequent overnite guests, the half bath would be a great advantage. In our case since we don't have overnite guests, we opt'd for the Walk-in-Pantry option vs the 1/2 bath.
So my answer is: All depends on your situation and type of camping.
