- mark5wExplorerIf you buy the RAS, when you call the company ask for the forum price. I got mine for $330. Air bags about the same.

Personally I don't believe Roadmaster will have much effect on the vertical lift support of your truck. There are several inaccuracies in the Roadmaster table.
I have Airlift airbags and know the pair is capable of lifting 5000#. I have seen a demo of airbags lift capabilities and it is very impressive.
Roadmaster does not publish weight value improvements as they wouldn't be close to what the airbags can do.
Funny! My F-150 is set at 70% and sits so high in the back the guys at work are talking about using it a carport! RAS works great, really improves the rear axle behavior on washboard roads. I tow a 28 footer with 1350# hitch weight WITHOUT the HD towing package. The truck is still lifted in the back when I am hitched up, fully loaded with a full tank of fuel. Best money I have ever spent on a vehicle and they don't need maintenance. - Pop-Pop_CExplorerWhat is the price differential between the air bag and the R.A.S??
Had air bags and had a lot or trouble with the compressors and the remote! - riggspExplorerRAS works for me...Ride quality while towing is considerably better and vertical load capacity is better...one of the things I was impressed with was getting rid of wheel hop when backing up with no load...The main difference between a SRW 1 ton and a 3/4 ton truck is the vertical load capacity and RAS can make them the same with a simple adjustment...I've had 2 trucks with RAS and I'm totally convinced.
- cwitExplorerI'm from the airbag group. Had my bags for 6 years and think they are great. If You set your pressure about 3 to 5 lbs empty you don't feel them on the road.
- mark5wExplorer50% of your present leafs capacity. Had bags, they road like a truck. Adding a leaf will make your ride harsher also. Airbags lead to sway and the constant inflating deflating process. Not for me, I'll stick to the RAS. Does much more than bags.
- wittmebaExplorer50% of what number? I don't see on the Roadmaster site where they talk about any values - likely because it is too committing.
If I were going to modify the springs I would add an additional leaf, not a small coil that pulls on 1 side of the leaf only. I have airbags - I know what they can do and highly recommend them for applications such as the OP is requesting. - mark5wExplorer

From personal use RAS does increase vertical lift on my truck. They do state that the RAS increases weight value by 50%. The ride does not get harsh like the previous air bags I had plus side to side sway and axle wrap is eliminated.
As far as 18 wheelers have an airbag suspension that' a horse of a different color. Their suspension is built from the ground up to be an air-suspension unlike pick ups which were not. - wittmebaExplorerPersonally I don't believe Roadmaster will have much effect on the vertical lift support of your truck. Most of the new tractors are air ride, and other then container frames, most newer trailers are also.
