The other option could be to stay at the RV campground Friday night, and then move to the cabin with your RV on saturday when you are ready.
The older I get, the more I dislike standard weekend camping. too much work for just 2 nights.
This would be my solution. If that didn't satisfy everyone, I would call the wife's bluff, because that is what it is. Tell her "have a great trip" and get the heck out of her way. Let her figure out how to hook it up by herself. If that didn't stop her, let her handle the two kids and the rig and the crazy "friends". If she beats the odds and everything goes according to Hoyle, it just makes your life easier the next time someone proposes a similar cockomanie scheme since you can tell the wife and the friends "enjoy the trip without me" without hurting anyone's feelings.
