My opinion, stay at the RV campground 10 miles away, and plan on using your RV only has the "hotel". In other words, pack for the day/evening, and head over to the friends cabin when they are ready for you, and stay until ready to retire for the night. Plus side is that you get an entire weekend of camping in, not just one short night.
The other option could be to stay at the RV campground Friday night, and then move to the cabin with your RV on saturday when you are ready.
The older I get, the more I dislike standard weekend camping. too much work for just 2 nights.
