Maybe not too shabby unless your trailer is one of those 3 or 4 failures. Thanks but I believe I'll stick to a hitch that hasn't had "3 or 4 failures".
0.000007 works out to around how many million in sales? Maybe off by a few decimal points. 50,000,000 sold with a failure rate of 0.00007 percent works out to 3.5 units. Hmm.
Here is the direct quote from Andersen in the original thread:
On a side note, any bending problems like this with the Ultimate Connection are extremely rare - in fact, out of all of the units we have shipped since early 2011, we have only seen this happen to 2 other units total (which equates to approximately 0.00007%). In each of these cases the trailer did NOT detach from the ball –so safety was not compromised, and damage to the truck or trailer was either non-existent or minimal. For each one we were able to get a replacement unit to the customer promptly so they could continue their trips.
BTW, your math is way off. At 50M sold, 0.00007% equals 3500...which is nowhere close to being right. More like 50,000 units sold, I'm guessing. All the 5er hitch sales in the world won't combine to be 50M - fj12ryderExplorer III

the hitch should have never been installed on a pivoting pin box to begin with that is the cause of the failure - Mortimer_BrewstExplorer IIHas anybody been able to find the Facebook page referred to in the link? I couldn’t find anything on the Grand Design Owner’s Facebook page. I’d like to hear what the owner of the AUH has to say. It bothers me when a 3rd party posts a pic without a source to back up the story.

Not sure if this has been posted. Rather disconcerting.
Andersen failure
From the looks of it, can't believe the fifth wheel didn't make contact with the bed of the truck. Pretty lucky it didn't do any damage.
I have the steel bedrail mount Andersen. I would never want the gooseneck Andersen or the B&W, I want to be connected at all four corners.
I was holding out for what I was told by Andersen thru emails that they were coming out with a puck system that would fit all three OEM fifth wheel preps. After several months past when they said they would be on the market, I went ahead ,and got the rail mount steel version of the Andersen. I already had the picture frame adapter that I had my conventional hitch connected to, so I was good to go.
The Andersen steel version is a great hitch, and after having a conventional fifth wheel hitch, its a pleasure to have the Andersen, at least the steel bedrail style :) - agesilausExplorer IIIAlso I'd like to see the AUH defenders post some images of a traditional, massively over designed hitch, like a B&W or Pullrite showing the same sort of failure.
- Cummins12V98Explorer IIII am also wondering is that the "ULTIMATE" or "ULTIMATE-ULTIMATE" ?????????
BTW they sure did not redesign the "ULTIMATE" over just a couple failures.
