Does anyone think that a competitor may have bent this on purpose, then install it in a truck with the 5th wheel to slam Andersen? Just saying. Something seems fishy here.
There’s no telling what those Andersen haters will do. Will their diabolical plots never end?
Seriously, I do think it’s strange that there is no sign of the picture on the Facebook page where it supposedly originated. Nothing like a bunch of conjecture based on unsubstantiated second hand information.
LOL, what would a thread about the most hated 5th hitch be without some form of conspiracy theory? Seems like it's the only reason thats left unmentioned. - jbelieraExplorer

You might want to get your paranoia meter checked. :) That seems a bit far fetched.

My question still is "Why did it come off of the ball"? Wrong size ball? Wrong size pin? Not torqued properly? Did the ball fail? We may never know that also.
I did not realize it came off the ball - the photo I saw showed all components attached.
I agree, looks like both the lower and upper balls were both still attached. It simply appears that both the front supports buckled from too much weight. - prfssrExplorer

- IBcarguyExplorerThey may never find out what happened here but it's an eye opener. I use the same set up so I intend to inspect it frequently for signs of failure. I don't think it's a characteristic of it or you'd hear of more incidents of similar problems.
