- Scott_85ExplorerIf they take the time to take off the adapter they could cut the lock. If they want my camper they can have it, that's why I have insurance.
- boingramExplorer...I guess to steal it someone would have to retract the six leveling legs...defeat the wheel locked chock...and the xchock...least it will be difficult. ..
- True_temperExplorerMy modification is to keep someone from hooking up to the trailer when I am not there. I am not concerned about it jumping off the ball.

Only someone with an Andersen hitch could pull it. Haven't seen anything that locks the coupler. Probably have to look at putting one of those clamp locks on one of the wheels as an alternative to locking the kingpin
Flatbed with a GN ball would do just fine and be gone in seconds. - Me_AgainExplorer III

Just leave it hooked up! No one would steal it!

You could always remove the Andersen block and attach a pin lock, it would only take a few minutes. Of course any lock is easy to defeat for those that have the tools to do so. - N-TroubleExplorerOnly someone with an Andersen hitch could pull it. Haven't seen anything that locks the coupler. I think he is referring to the Walmart/restaurant problem of someone pulling the release! Trailer is not going to jump off the ball until one hits a REALLY REALLY REALLY bad bump. Chris
Unlike a conventional hitch that has had the handle pulled, its a dropped fifth wheel for sure.
Once the locking issue is solved, if there is really an issue, you guys are going to have to find another product to discredit. - e-lightExplorer

I agree, this is not a problem.
You should be doing a pre tow walk around inspection anyway. If the handle is in and twisted locked...it's locked!
a gremlin is not going to jump in your bed whil your driving, twist te lock open, pull the handle, and then lift the fiver up and over the ball.
Can someone fiddle with it while you are stopped? Yes...but the operator should do a visual inspection of the rig before driving again.
Thanks!
Jeremiah
Exactly...I always leave someone with the rig when stopping for breaks. Also I quick visual inspection, which I always do at a stop, visually check tires, latches, connections, etc. Easy to see if hitch is locked. Also I can see it from my rearview mirror.
It's a non issue. Hitch weighs 35 lbs. After setting up my 5er, I remove and store the hitch in my 5er's basement. Takes less than 5 minutes.
