Andersen levelers and question about x-chocks

Dang the rotten luck!!!! Just bought a pair of Andersen levelers and wouldn't ya know it, our campsite is almost perfectly level. I mean really, how many times do you get a site that you don't need anything to level? LOL

As to the x-chocks. When ever I first put them on I tighten them as tight as I can. I go back an hour later and most times I can remove them easily. Do any of you have that same problem? Thanks, John
  • In addition to tire cooling, your X-chocks loosen up due to leaf spring settling - I believe. As leaf springs straighten out under load, they move apart. After you park, you get in the trailer and start moving around, jiggling stuff, rocking the rig side to side, and the springs settle ever so slightly. Plus, your chocks are pushing outward.

That's just my theory. Never heard anyone mention it before.

I have tire compression type device but decided to make these they work better.

  • I will re-tighten them after about an hour of cooling and no additional tightening needed after that.
  • Same happens to me, even when they've already sat for awhile. Takes a long time for the tires to cool.
  • Very common with between the wheel chocks like X-chocks and like Rotochocks like we have.

Tires are warm/hot when you first pull in. They cool and contract after a while requiring tightening of the chocks.
