This horse ain't nowhere close to being dead....for those of you running chains: where, and how, are you attaching to your pinbox? I was thinking about an un-used hole in pinbox and a machinery eye bolt. I don't think a state trooper would know that pulling sideways on a eye bolt isn't recommended. I have the Curt eyes for the Ram pucks, I just need chains and an attaching point to the 5th.
I attached my chains to unused holes in the pinbox mounting bracket.
As far as whether I need them...kind of depends. They aren't required in Idaho where I live. They are required in Oregon where I frequently tow. I haven't looked into other surrounding states because I figured it was easiest just to put some chains on and it's not like they hurt anything. - slapshot12Explorer

I've got the Ram factory prep. I bought a Curt gooseneck ball with safety chain kit. I have 2 Curt "D rings" that go in 2 of the 4 unused puck locations.
So, with the Andersen eyebolts I just need to get appropriate length of chain with hooks on the ends that will go in the Curt D rings??
The Andersen chain kit comes with everything you'll need. Just supply your own tools for the install. It was as simple install. - MFLNomad IIThe B&W does not actually fasten to the ball, but uses the square hole in the system that is fastened underneath to the frame.
Jerry - wvcampersExplorerI don't understand why the 5th wheel hitches that are connected to the truck utilizing the ball in the truck bed, such as the B&W turnover ball system does not require safety chains. The connection point between the fiver and the truck is a ball connection. Why is it any different than the AUH?
- Me_AgainExplorer IIIGiven that safety chain requirements state that the chains most be attached as follows:
d) Not be connected to the hitch ball or to a ball mount designed to be readily removable when not in use.
It is questionable in my mind that Andersen's kit that attaches chains to their kingpin adapter is the correct location to create the safety factor that they are after with safety chains. Safety chains are there to provide a secondary connection should the primary coupling of the trailer and TV fail. Some bumper pull rules state that the chains can not be attached with the same bolt/bolts that attaching the coupler to a trailer tongue.
Chris - ulvikExplorerFriend has had two the first one bent under emergency breaking but Anderson just asked him to send pics and after word from the company he had to send pics again where he cut up the bent one and they sent him a new one. And as of this date no issues with the new one.

You can get the chain kit from Andersen when you order the eye bolts. I just got everything from them - TxGearheadExplorer III've got the Ram factory prep. I bought a Curt gooseneck ball with safety chain kit. I have 2 Curt "D rings" that go in 2 of the 4 unused puck locations.

I use those and they are vey easy to hook/unhook.
- goducks10ExplorerThis is what you want to go along with the eye bolts.
