When we bought our fiver in 2004 to fulltime with, which we still fulltime in, I installed a Cummins/Onan Marquis Gold 7000 gas which will run 50 amp.
1 Anything Cummins/Onan is overpriced including parts if they are proprietary.
2 Diesel was my preference. But an Onan diesel genny is much larger than the Marquis Gold 7000. And the weight difference is huge. Probably won't fit in your cabinet. Propane is a fuel that doesn't go bad but availability is a problem as there are no 24/7 propane outlets and it is less efficient. So I went with gas.
3 Onan Marquis gold is 50 amp capable. Just keep in mind what all you want to run!
4 Small Hondas will not support a 50 amp trailer continually.
5 I won't get into this deep but what you are doing is "joining" 2 Hondas together for more amperage.
6 Unfortunately, Honda or Yamaha does not make an onboard RV genny. And to use them onboard there are issues to overcome. Exhaust, fresh air intake, gas tank, etc.
8 With an onboard Onan you will need space for a gas tank if using gasoline or diesel. A remote for inside to start, shut off, hour meter. Where you want to bring the exhaust pipe out to the side.
If using portable units or a larger portable unit lifting is required something I didn't and still don't want to do. Yes, the genny could be mounted in the pickup bed, but what if one of you wants or needs use of the truck while 120v is required in the fiver?
AS I said earlier I just wish Honda/Yamaha would make an on board genny as they would skew the market quickly. My own opinion on Onans is they are like an old lady, they need a lot of TLC.
If any more info is needed just PM me.
