Any Mountaineer 347THT Owners?

Does anyone know what is the brand and model of the wheel? There's no spare wheel/tire included with the used 347THT I'm buying.

Or do you just get the cheapest spare wheel/tire you can find so you can hobble to where you need to go?

Or do you just get Good Sam roadside assistance and skip on the weight of the spare wheel/tire?


Here's what I have. Do you know what is the brand and model of the wheel?

Hi everyone, just wanted to say I've made the deal with the dealer to buy a 2011 Montana Mountaineer 347THT !!! I'm picking it up in 2 weeks. I'm gonna give it a final inspection before I hand over the $$$. Anything I should look out for?

Hi everyone, I just went and looked at my first 347THT in person yesterday and the layout for me is PERFECT! Can't wait to get a 347THT!

So, the one I looked at appeared to be in really good condition. But one thing really caught my eye, the front bay where a generator would normally go.

Does this look right? It lookes like someone cut out the floor and the belly looks like it was tack-welded back on.

What's going on here?

I use one of the HF chocks for my FLHRCI and it works fine. Yes it comes very close to the back of the front fender but it clears by about 1/2". I can ride up on it and just get off the bike - the chock holds it upright by the front wheel and it's quite secure. I've towed twice from San Diego to Durango round trip and some of I-40 is so badly rutted I thought the trailer was going to fall apart - no problems with the chock.

I hope to join the club of 347THT owners! It seems like the perfect setup for me, my dog and cat, and my Suzuki SV650 motorcycle. My intentions are to live full-time in the 347THT, moving to a new site every 3-8 weeks or so.

I don't yet have a tow vehicle, so my first step is to get a truck. I'm looking for a used 2003-2010 Dodge Ram 3500 CC 4WD DRW which seem to be in my price range.

I've got a question, hope ya'all can help:

Should I go by the numbers for the axle ratio for the max trailer weight? The publications I've found for this truck say 3.73 = 13,350 lbs, and 4.10 = 16,350 lbs. The GVWR of the 347THT is around 14,300 lbs so doesn't that exclude the 3.73 axle ratio (about 1,000 lbs short)?

I would pull it twice a year...

1,800 miles and park it for 5 months. (Texas)
1,800 miles and park it for 7 months.. (Ohio)

maybe a few short trips in the summer.. without motorcycle.
as for Stuff. current trailer is 8,300 pounds empty... loaded its 9,200...
we do not need much .. or want much..

Just checking to see if anyone out there knows where the back-flow prevention device for the black tank flush is located on a 2011 model. No problem as of yet but have seen many posts on other forums of people who had one fail. I would like to eliminate the potential problem.

The F250 gas as you describe would just barely be enough for this trailer if you are going to do much alpine traveling. Our rig with gray and black tanks empty, loaded with our regular gear, food, and the fresh water tank less than half full weighs about 13.3K. With the motorcycle and our riding gear on an extended foray gets pretty close to 15K. However, we are not full timing. I'm sure your truck would be fine for short runs or moving it from one long term spot to another.

In five years and 28K miles, we have gone through three sets of tires and had a broken leaf spring on the rear curb side where most of the bike weight rests. I replaced all the original 6K leaf springs with 8K and run 14 ply tires rated to nearly 3600 lbs each.

We found a 2011 left over in March of 2015 at a dealer in Bangor Maine. Hard to believe it had set on the lot for almost 5 years. We special ordered a 2015 Chevy 3500HD Dually w/gas engine. Have been full timing for the last 17 months. There have been zero problems with both the truck or trailer. The layout of this unit is almost ideal for us and only wish the room for the toilet was a little bigger. My wife and I have been to several RV shows and visited many dealers before and after the purchase, not many other rigs would work for us as well as this one.
