I think I am sold on the Andersen. I wanted an auto slide like the Superglide but just seems like a lot of stuff and weight to mess with. I did put matching dings on both side of my last truck cab so not wanting to do this as just picked up a new '15 Dodge 3500 SB.Anyways, looking at the aluminum version as rated higher. I know I am in the neighborhood of the 4.5k kingpin rating and I come in a bit over 27k lbs total with truck and my '06 Weekend Warrior CL4005 per the scale so very heavy. I should be fine but have yet to see anyone with this much weight and this hitch. Any concerns?The hitch is offset back 5inches so I get some additional clearance per rep. The kingpin adaptor adds another 4in. But if my kingpin is long and I have to flip it to get clearance inside bed when rotating it around I think that nets me only one inch (verifying with rep). So, anyone have CL4005 with this hitch and did you have to rotate the adaptor around and if so what are you thoughts on cab clearance (no cutouts on my old toy hauler for clearance)?

That pin weight is way over your SRW 3500 truck limit. Unless you have a DRW. Just FYI

There are some guys on the Cummins forum towing heavy with it. There are some here who question its weight rating but still haven't been able to produce a single report of one failing on the Internet. Just sayin...I would be much more concerned with the current hitch in your sig.

Any comments on the clearance that was gained and if it really helps to not hit cab? Trying to figure out if I will likely not have to flip the adaptor on my Weekend Warrior/'15 dodge 3500SB.

I just checked out their website, nice product, especially if you have a gooseneck ball!

This has to be a record for the shortest Andersen thread of all time. These things usually turn into 10-12 pages of comments/opinions.

Maybe if your just looking at dry weights... Anything near GVWR and your at 3k+ lb pin weight which is significantly over.

If you will research the weights of my 2006 victory lane by Dutchmen you may get a surprise as to what you call b.s. It was built as an aluminum framed very lightweight trailer compared to what is produced today. 10,231 unloaded and 15,500 gvw 5269 carry capacity with a 2204 pound pin weight. My toy hauler is 39 foot 6 inches long.

I don't claim to be a member of the "weight police" but I do call BS when I see it... Sorry but a 40ft TH with a pin weight that is anywhere within a 3/4 diesel payload limit doesn't exist.

As for the original topic glad to see you like your Andersen. I really like mine.

Well thank you for your thoughts. I have rolled across the scales. I am within the weight limits of my truck. As I said, I love my anderson hitch. If folks don't act arrogant in their responses they will not be met with sarcastic resistance.

I don't know how many people I have talked to (met in campgrounds) that claim ignorance when asked why they are pulling such a heavy trailer with either a 2500 or 3500 SRW truck. They have no clue about pin weight and how much their truck is rated for. I have seen people max out their tire load many times. Some think that because they have a 3500 (SRW) that it is good for whatever they can attach to the truck. I am glad to see people question weights on this forum.
