Articulating Hitch vs Not

Articulating Hitch Head........tilts fore and aft AND side to side

NON.......tilts only fore and aft

The articulating 4 way head makes hitching/unhitching on non-level/off canter surfaces SO Much easier
Glad to have mine on many occasions .....even while in transit and having to make a turn going in/coming out of a driveway or approach that was up hill/down hill/off level/off angle

Needed? No. Appreciated? Yes

I much prefer the articulating hitch.

It can be a real be-otch getting hitched and unhitched with a non side to side articulating hitch. I had a RBW years ago and had to shim up one side of the trucks rear end to get the truck level enough to hitch.

Close to subject. While going around an uphill cloverleaf to get on a freeway (big rig) the angle was right and the inside tires lifted off the ground. Sudden stop. I had to lock the axles to go on around. The hitch on a big rig does not articulate sided to side. I don't know if it could happen on a 5th wheel but don't want to find out. My Curt goes both ways...

Got a fore and aft/side to side now and will never be any other way.

I suspect that it is one of those things that once you have one you wondered how you ever got by without it.

Never not had one.

I had two of them before the 4 way pivoting hitch came out. I wouldn't go back to them.

Twice I've had the pin jam in the slot where the jaws can't open or close.
I carry lots of wood for leveling so luckily I had enough blocks for the truck and a 36" crow bar borrowed from a construction worker camped near by to get the pin out of the slot.

Back then RV parks were as scarce as hens teeth. Most campground had dirt roads and maybe scattered picnic tables with no level campsites.

Now if your staying in manicured RV parks with level pads then you should be ok. You may want to carry plenty of wood for cribbing....and a crow bar just in case.

Who out there has a short bed truck and do you think a sliding hitch is needed? Maybe I don't need to spend the extra on a Autoslide hitch and concentrate on an articulating hitch. E
