After everyone got here. - SpleenstomperExplorerGood ideas. If anyone takes a run to wal mart, I'll get them to get a Household CO2 detector.
We will also follow up on the manifold leak idea.
Thanks, everyone! - carringbExplorerAre you able to run into town? At this point, I would rally want to verify it with a household style battery-powered unit. Some even have a PPM display. If the extra detector also detects high CO, it might be time to break camp. Even low levels, over enough time, can cause permanent permanent damage.
- turbojimmyExplorerIt doesn't look like you're jammed in so tight that someone else's exhaust would be setting off your CO alarm. You may need a Gen-turi type device. Mine goes off even with the Gen-turi at times, but a fellow camper told me that I probably have a leak at the manifold on the generator. It's on the to-do list for this season.
As a side note, the alarms are very sensitive. The alarms in my house will go off if I let my RV idle near the garage door for too long. - SpleenstomperExplorerBoggy mud races yesterday:

^^^ My exhaust pipe is to the left of these chairs. We have informed everyone in the area about the CO2

We had a problem with out 2005 Raptor. When we ran the generator the fumes from the exhaust pipe could leak into the RV. This happened several times, fully tested everything and narrowed it down to that. I built a home made Genturi, or you can buy one for about $130. Depending on your exhaust location this might be the issue.
Side Note: Found it funny to search for a picture and found somebody had swiped my old photo for his site.
Yes, we are going to have to do this. It makes sense to have one. - SpleenstomperExplorer

Be very, very careful. We have had several die of carbon monoxide poisoning at the Bristol Motor Speedway when it has been cold and lots of generators running.
Yes this worries me because there are a lot of people here and people are grouped in clusters with RVs and tents right next to each other. - Y-GuyModeratorWe had a problem with out 2005 Raptor. It is a loud sustained siren sort of. It woke me up after an ambien and with me using a CPAP and a white noise machine. You can't sleep or ignore it.
I do think it is detecting carbon monoxide. It turned itself off after we opened and used the ceiling fan in kitchen and bathroom and aired the unit out and turned off the Onan and fridge, which was running on propane.
Mud Nationals does not require people to snorkel exhaust up.
Obvioulsy, I am cranky this morning. No sleep.
