- W4RLRExplorerI mounted mine (a wired unit from Rear View Systems) below the clearance lights and above the rear window. Since I was rebuilding the structure under the rear cap I had the aluminum skin off the back of the fiver at the time of installation. I got the wired unit as wireless didn't work well at all. I have another camera on the rear bumper of the truck, and can switch to either camera with the touch of a button. RVS sell a system just for fifth-wheel applications, which is what I bought and installed.
- abc40kidsExplorerI mounted mine about half way up the rear ladder under one of the steps and it worked just fine.
- troybExploreras Royb mentioned, mount as high as possible to avoid head lights, and below your clearance lights to avoid glare from them. Not sure of your configuration of the rear of your unit, but when I installed mine, I removed one tail light and couple clearance lights, and this allowed me to fish the wire down the back of the unit and get to below the frame. Installed a 1/2" black corlon pipe (cheap water line) to the inside of the frame with plastic wire ties, and fished the wire through this to get to the front of the 5er. Umbilical cord is a pigtail with a male 5-pin connector (my camera only uses 2). Female connectors mounted in truck and underside of 5er by the hitch. Never had any issues. Hope this helps.
- priusronExplorerLook for Leviathon Holdings on ebay. I purchased a system from them with a camera that mounts in the bumper. Comes with a hole saw of the proper size.

What brand & model wireless camera do you have? It must be a good one.
Mike
It is a cheap unit that I bought at Sam's club about 3 years ago for $59. They were sold for a short time and disappeared. It was made by Peak and came with a 7" monitor. Model #PKCORC - RECVEH2005Explorerpowderman426:

Mike - powderman426ExplorerI mounted mine just below the running lights and it works well. A lot of people say the wireless cameras don't work, but mine has never been a problem. I powered it from the running light wires as I always run with lights on and if I forget I know immediately as I then have no camera signal.
- RoyBExplorer III would mount it as high as I could to prevent flare-up from vehicles lights directly behind the fifth wheel.
Wireless cameras might be a good choice so you won't have to run long cabling back to it from your truck. If you do run cables you will need water tight quick-disconnect MIL-SPEC type connections between the truck and trailer.
Just a couple of my thoughts - used to see alot of rear camera posts on ebay with lots of info and photos - The commercial truckers use this market big time.
