The OP actually has a 1 ton SRW 350, with a 250 badge, and ratings. He would need to go DRW, as you did, to gain real world capacity. He has added much aftermarket wt to the rear axle. He needs to transfer some back to the front, or like you say, just live with it.

Will need to disagree this time, the 6,100# rear axle is not what you would find on a 11,700# GVWR SRW! Likely has 17" wheels and tire rating of 3,195 ea.
