Auto Leveling

We've pretty much decided to jump from our Class C to a 5th Wheel. One feature I'm sold on is auto leveling. As I look around ,that feature isn't offered on many of the units. We've seen many of the Keystone models, but have only found them on Cougar High Country and Alpine. Are we missing any others in the Keystone line-up? Any others you would recommend? We prefer to stay under 35 feet. Our original goal was 30- 32, but we've already discovered that to get the features we want, you have to go longer. All suggestions welcome!

  • 'Big Foot' auto leveling is a popular aftermarket system

Guess they are nice......I'm cheap and like K.I.S.S.

Less things to go wrong.........besides it only takes me a few minutes to level

But I liked window cranks until first vehicle had power windows. :B
  • I think the level up systems seem to be more prevalent on the 5th wheel toy haulers than on the regular 5th wheel campers. Don't know why they couldn't be ordered on one though.
  • We camped at Lake Keowee in South Carolina this past spring and was set up across from a unit that had auto leveling...The owner had more problems trying to get it level than I'd want to mess with...I like the idea and know that there can't be that many issues with them or they wouldn't be as popular of a system as they are, but this guy's unit was brand new and just couldn't get the hang of it...I tried to help him, even to the point of getting out his instruction manual and trying to figure out how to make it work...powered down and started back up from start and guess I was too stupid to figure it out also...He ended up calling an RV repair service and when they left he STILL wasn't level and was told to go back to dealership where he purchased the unit....Great concept, but hope the system isn't that much of a hassle to deal with..Don't know if I'd want it or not after seeing what all he went through, (this encompassed a Friday and a Saturday....felt bad for the guy.
  • Look at the Keystone High Country line. There are several <35 feet with the Lippert 4 or 6 point leveling system. The 4 point is all electric; the 6 point is hydraulic.

We have the 4 point system and love it. Our model 305 RL is listed as 33'11"(pin to bumper), although it is actually 35'4" (tip of the nose to ladder).
  • Call the manufacturer that your interested in to see if they can add as an option. On on new Forest River Sierra we wanted auto 6 point leveling but did not see any with it nor did the brochures have it listed. Called FR and they said it would be no problem for them to add it on at a cost of $2000. Needless to say I'm to cheap and $2000 was too much for me.

Just give them a call and I'm sure most manufacturers will add it for you. Good luck.
