Axle Alignment
Both tires on the door side of my trailer are showing are showing quite a bit of wear on the outside two inches. The tires on the other side are wearing perfectly. I have one small slide on the door ...

The total weight is not enough to elminate the camber.MM49 wrote:Vulcaneer wrote:Previous Poster wrote:
The wear you are seeing is most likley normal.
I heartily DIS-AGREE. That wear is NOT normal. Even wear on all tires is normal. Uneven wear is never normal.
As B.O. indicates, look up a good heavy vehicle and trailer alignment shop. They will be able to find the root cause, and correct it with the minimum cost to you. And you will save that money in less tire wear.
And do stay away from RV shops. Again B.O. is correct. They will sell you a new axle. And the labor to install it. But still will not be able to align it properly. Most of them simply do not have the equipment to make accurate alignments.
The trailer axles are cambered with bend. The tires will not wear evenly until they are loaded near the maximum. Then the axles will be straight then. Outside tire wear on a trailer that is not heavy loaded is normal.

I do not understand your logic. Since I doubt the OP is towing for so many miles with a very lightly loaded trailer. And especially since he is worried that weight distribution might be his problem. So he must have some weight in the trailer somewhere. And if, as he says, heavy on the door side, his tires would be wearing on the inside, not the outside.
