battery location

my new-used 2001 cardinal has a battery compartment on the outside side. also has a 2nd battery in the front compartment. is I ok to move battery 1 to the front also. I see it now has a vent tube in the compartment, will I need to add one if both are in the front.
the front bottom is metal, so I added a piece of plywood for the battery. is this a good idea

    If you move the battery, you will have to do something with the wiring, you can not just leave those wires there they will have to be extended and connected. IMHO, the plywood could absorb any spills from the battery, then trap it and rot the metal floor. A plastic battery box with a vented cover would be a better move.
