Best awning replacement material

My awning is 7 years old and has started ripping from both ends so I need to replace it. I see a lot of companies and in my search on the forum I can't find a link to the preferred material to replace it with. Mine is a Dometic awning and it lasted pretty well I think. I was looking at Sunbrella but they may be just better at advertising. I thought I would try and learn from others.

  • We replaced ours last year. Very pleased. Equal or better than OEM.

Item 62420, RV Patio Awning Fabric 20' (Approx Width 19'2") Ocean Blue Fade, $155.00

    Shipping (Standard) $19.00

    Balance Due $174.00

Installed it ourselves, though I'd have a 4th person to help next time. Ladder time was a challenge on our uneven ground surface.
  • Thanks for the tips. I have heard of Solara and I will listen to the pod cast. I think I saw something about Tough Top when I was looking. I did see several people say to stay away from the cheap ones on Ebay. Thanks for the tips.
  • tough top awning makes the best material and it is a lot cheaper and heavier weight than the OEM stuff
  • I happened to listen recently to this podcast by Radio Arizona RV he discusses RV awnings including replacement fabrics. He recommends Solara universal replacement fabric.
