This is true, I am partial to Ram we currently tow with a 2016 Ram Laramie 3500 DRW long bed CTD and Aisin trans.
We full time and it is our only vehicle, we both drive it and there are not many places we won’t drive it. Payload of 5,411#, towing capacity of 25,225#.
Your payload number really is an irrelevant number unless you stick to the false 14k GVWR that is only there for licensing and insurance reasons.
SAE axle ratings are 6k front and 9,750# rear. Funny how I load mine to it’s SAE RAWR with my RV’s 6k pin and can’t possibly be 14k.
Simply have tonnage to cover your loaded weight.
