I have seen several references to a BFG Commercial TA recall in 2012. I have been running these on my 5th wheel for 5 years now with no problem, and I'm very pleased with the price Is the consensus still the same, that these LT tires run a close second behind the Michelins and Bridgestones?

The recalls were for 245/75R16" and I don't remember the other size. I have had recent problems with the 225/75R16LT Commercial T/A's on my 5th wheel. One threw the tread and two had had broken belts. BFG says they are not warranted for trailer service and would not honor a warranty. Had 1 245/75R16 LT fail on my truck with a broken belt while traveling. Dealer gave me a small discount on one but I had to buy two. When the recall became public I found that both of the rear tires were within the recall but BFG would not help. The two I bought were also on the recall and I did get two replacements.

Last trip out I had a Commercial TA blow, it was a few months over 5 years and had 3 patches inside. Do not know if that had anything to do with it. :( Probably will get 4 new Commercial TA's.

I've ran them for close to 15 years on my RV s/trucks and equipment trailers with no problems. It does look like some BFG Commercials made in the 2010-2012 era had issues (recalled two sizes) like the Goodyear G614 or the Goodyear Wranglers of the '00 era have went through. Goodyear fixed the problems with those two tires and seem to be one of the better choices. BFG as Goodyear will fix the issues if they already haven't. If you have had good luck with them I wouldn't worry about what a hand full of owners/non owners says. BFG still recommends them for trailer service and with a full written warranty. I wouldn't say any poly fabric carcass LT brand runs a close 2nd to a Rib or the R-250 or any commercial grade all steel ply carcass tire. These tires are in a class all by themselves.

On our last trip out we lost a left rear tire on the truck. It was a 3 year old BFG Commercial TA. Date code 3411,Took out the bed side. Had 80 psi speed was 65 MPH. no more BFGs for me.
