Bicycle Rack on 5th wheel rear 2'' hitch

I bought a two bike rack which attaches to a 2in receiver hitch. I read the instructions and found in the fine print that the rack was not to be used on a trailer or 5th wheel. So I take it back and get another brand. Checked the instructions, same thing. Don't use it on a trailer or 5th wheel! So what is the problem? Anyone know?

  • I got a Swagman 2 bike rack and they are rv approved, they have lock bolts that keep it tight in the receiver, no side to side wobble.
  • Just be sure you tie your bikes down well. There is a significant amount of bounce back there as Dick_B said.
  • It's the overhung load of the bike bouncing up and down due to the bad roads. 5ers don't seem to bounce as much as TT's at least my TT so I have my rack on the front of the TV but it bounces up there also. But, at least, I can keep my eye on them and tie them down with bunge cords from the rack to the vehicle.
