I'm glad that you have a concern as far as my trailer goes,...that 19k is not an exact weight. It is actually an overestimated guess of what it really was. If i'm gonna guess what it is, i'm not gonna take a low ball estimate of what it really weighs,...and then drive down the road with a false sense of security as if everything is fine and dandy. Do you know exactly what your rig weighs every single time you hit the road? Do you know exactly how much weight is in your trailer alone? Do you know how much weight you've added from loading "stuff" in your truck before you're hooked up to your trailer? Hope you get where i'm going with this. I'm sorry i didn't make an itemized list of what was loaded in the trailer and what was in the truck. I don't have a scale sitting in my driveway to weigh every single item that gets loaded in the truck, then go to the truck stop and unhitch to see exactly what my truck weighs, then hook up and weigh the whole rig together. It's not really a big deal whether or not you made yourself clear to me. I will be the first to admit that i have towed overweight three times as far as the tow vehicle is concerned, and that to me is three times too many. Not once has the trailer ever been overloaded. They were grossed out to the max, but never overloaded. The three times that it happened, I was towing with my Dodge. It was in a transition period when I had sold my Sportchassis and was for something bigger. Like so many others,...I didn't have access to a heavier duty tow vehicle at the time. Maybe you didn't read the last line of that response about "I think if i have to, i might have to upgrade to higher rated axles." It means exactly what i meant,...if i need to upgrade axles because of a safety issue, then i will. When i look at my weigh tickets, I'm not even close to being over on the axles. That's the part of safety that i'm not gonna shrug off either.
I'm not on here to argue with you or anyone else. You can check my profile. I been a member since 2006 and have posted how many times? I don't spend a lot of time on here. I login and see what's going on from time to time, because for the most part, all the questions that can be asked and answered have already been done. I'm a member of Escapees too,...same thing there. Below, I will post three weight ticket results. You can make your own assumption of what my trailer weighs, but you nor i will know the pin weight because we don't know exactly how much of the "stuff" that was loaded on and in the truck weighed. That includes firewood, extra coolers with beverages, tools, and other miscellaneous rv and camping items.
Truck weight. No tools or nothing. Just myself and full tank of fuel.
Steer Axle: 11,960
Rear Axle: 7,660
Gross Weight: 19,620
Truck and trailer loaded w/tools and "stuff" for the weekend with Teryx 4 in toy hauler.
Steer Axle: 12,080
Drive Axle: 12,060
Trailer Axles: 15,000
Gross Weight: 39,140
Truck and trailer loaded w/tools and some "stuff" to travel to Disneyworld.
Steer Axle: 12,060
Drive Axle: 12,460
Trailer Axle: 13,140
Gross Weight: 37,660
Hope that gives you a little more accurate information as far as what I'm working with. The next time that take my truck in for service, or to fill up, i will get another weigh for it since i have all my tools loaded in my truck now. When i used to tow with my Dodge, i could guess within a couple of hundred pounds of how much my trailer weighed, because we never really hauled much in the bed, and if we did, it was usually a cooler or a smaller item.
Let me know if this helps.
