OP - Suggest you and your buddy drop by *any* RV supply and look at a Valterra (or other brand) black or gray valve.
And/or Google it for lots of pics by suppliers (like Amazon) - which should be self-explanatory.
Whether they are direct (with a pull handle, valve visible in the 3" line), or remotely operated by a cable (
"no box, the arm slides into the chassis") or electric......the valve body -and operation- is the same.
