Black Water Waste Gate replacement

I had the fun task of replacing the Black Water Waste gate this weekend. Here are some pictures.

The reason for the replacement was because the Metal Bar pulled out of the blade.

Cutting the hole to get to it.

The Valve itself

Replaced it (sorry forgot the new installed picture) and then cover the hole.

  • Mine had broke as well but I just bought the gate that goes on the end of the pipe.
  • yikes it sucks you had to take the sawsall to it ,I have replaced valves 4 times and just had to remove some screws on each side and a cross member and peel away the black coragated under belly and insulation foil and replace the valves and repeat no big deal but anyway it sure is nice when it is done Nice and SMOOTH:B
  • I hope you checked the new installation for any leaks before closing the area up?
  • Yes it pulled out. But no, not open. We cut the gate where the rod goes in (see first picture) and inserted a screw in to the spot where the rod went. We pulled on the screw with a pair of pliers.
  • UUuuuh, did the rod pull out in the open position? If not, how did you empty the tank?
  • That's a heck of a job.. but a new valve is sooo nice. I guess your mfr thought nobody would own it long enough to have to replace that valve.
  • I removed the bottom on our last TT to install an electric gate valve and found one strap on the fresh water tank unhooked.
  • Well it was that or remove the whole Belly Pan. I opted for cutting it and taking less time.
  • OMG, you had to cut the underbelly of your RV to get to the sewer valves?

This is an RV part that at some time always has to be replaced from wear and they permanently cover it? :S
