B@W Companion Fifth Wheel Hitch

It is my understanding that the b&w hitch is placed on top of the turnover ball hitch in the truck. Is this correct? It looks like a great hitch, based on the easy way to take it out of the bed when not using it. Also no bed rails in the back of the truck are there when removing he hitch. The one I was looking at would have tow capacity of 16K. Any thoughts on this one way or the other?

Thanks
  • The B&W Companion works with the B&W turnover GN hitch. It comes in two pieces so you can remove it fairly easily. There is one drawbolt on top torqued to 40 ft lbs and two "U" bolt clamps torqued to 80 ft lbs that clamp the hitch to the locked post that goes into the square socket once you remove the GN ball. It allows movement both for & aft and side to side, tows like a dream. It also allows adjustments for up, down, fore and aft. Takes about 15 minutes or less to remove and I'm an old man.
  • Correct. Remove the ball from the bed and drop on the base and lock the lever. Pull it all out when you are finished. Easy and slick.
