The main road to Bodie is OK (SR 270). It's dirt for about 3 miles at the end. It's a long climb, but my clipper took it fine. The dirt portion can be washboard depending on the recent traffic/rain. They do smooth it out regular. There is another road in to Bodie that comes from 167 - that is NOT for RVs.
Parking for large rigs is limited - if you can leave the trailer behind, you'll have an easier time, but it's not impossible.
There are no restaurants, shops, etc. (just a few souvenir items in the museum), so bring your own lunch and drinks. The flush restrooms and water fountain are non-functional according to the website.
Yea, I wouldn't take my rig. The great thing about that area is you can camp in a number of places or boondock on federal land and then take your truck wherever you want. Also there's Devil's Postpile (there's a shuttle or limited drive in access). And if you like beer Mammoth Brewing has some great brews. Hit me or Hap up for camping suggestions.
