I don't see the problem here ? If you want a camper that looks like a log cabin inside, then go buy a nice used floorplan you like, and get busy with some tools and refurb it inside to your liking. They aren't even that big inside, so it's not like it would take a lot of material.
If you like your '99 model truck, that's great. Drive it, rebuild it as needed, and go tow your refitted camper around this country and have a good time ?
To answer your question: the reason campers now being sold look like they do is because it's what people like to buy. That's the way a free market works.
I like the things I have. Just because it doesn't mesh with what you think is right, does not in itself mean that I need "an adjustment".
