While the OP sort of went over the top with his comments, I completely understand the basic point he is making.
With both Tow Vehicles and trailers and 5ers, there are so many things added on that have little to do with camping. I don't want or need all the bells, hoops, and whistles that now come standard on both trucks and RVs. Roll down windows in my truck are just fine with me. I don't need or want a power awning, carpeting, external speakers, etc. on my trailer. I especially don't like all the do-dads that make decisions for me. Much of this stuff now comes standard (and you pay for it), where it used to be an option.
So I am OK with those who want this stuff, that is their choice.
But for those of us who do not want it, we have very few options.
In that aspect, I agree with the OP. But he presented it in a rather accusatory way. On the other hand, many of the responses here are just as bad as the OP. I get they are poking back at him but if you don't want an island in your fiver just stay on your porch? Really?
