- Happy_Camper200ExplorerHere is the actual post from the Savannah District COE Facebook page:
We have an update on park closures due to the government shutdown. Currently, all Corps-operated campgrounds & parks that are normally open this time of year at Hartwell and Thurmond Lakes will remain OPEN through Oct. 20. The Hartwell and Russell visitors centers are closed during the shutdown. Thurmond's visitors center will remain open through Oct. 20. For questions, please call the Hartwell Office at 888-893-0678 or the Thurmond Office at 800-533-3478. - Happy_Camper200ExplorerActually I read on the COE Facebook page today that all campgrounds on Lake Hartwell that are normally open this time of year will remain open through Oct 20th.

The answer is yes, they are closed unless they get some sort of private funding. National parks, monuments, BLM, forest, army corps all have been clearing out campgrounds and closing gates (if there are gates, some BLM lands can't really be closed).
I have seen a few COE parks work with counties and/or concessionaires and those could possibly be open if they get enough money from non-government sources.
They are closing the non funded ones as well. - sayoungExplorerthey are here in TX,even closed the free day-use areas. So its state or pvt parks for awhile.
- NCWriterExplorerCall.
We were booked and paid to arrive today in the Abiquiu Riana Lake, NM COE park. Called when the shutdown started and were told they are open until Saturday a.m. So we are headed there today for at least the first two nights of our five. - addisonlExplorerThe answer is yes, they are closed unless they get some sort of private funding. However, both Lake Hartwell and Sadlers Creek SPs are decent and would probably have available space this time of year.
