Carpet Cleaning

We have a younger bulldog who has been wetting on the carpet. I try to catch it as soon as I can and use Resolve pet foam to get it up. I understand that these carpets don't have a pad under them, it is just the carpet then plywood.
So the question is, is there any way to steam/shampoo these carpets, or do I just keep doing what I'm doing between the Resolve foam, Oxiclean scent powder, and vacuuming?

  • I have used regular household Bissell carpet cleaner. Main thing is to suck as much water back up as possible. Wet soaked is bad. I turn on ceiling fan and set another fan on floor to speed drying on nice day with windows open. Randu
  • Definitely hire a pro. That's what we do. With professional equipment they can virtually leave your carpets dry, plus they have pet odor solvents and pet safe biodegradable cleaners.
  • In our house I pour vinegar on the spot, then put baking soda on it and place a white hand towel on top. Let it completely dry. The vinegar will take the odor away, the baking soda will soak up the vinegar and stain and the towel keeps us from walking on it as well. We usually leave it a couple of days to completely dry.

Our daughter uses Dawn and color safe bleach through a carpet cleaner.
  • I have a shampooer we carry with us. Works just fine. Never had a problem. Pulled all the carpets up last month to install new and there was no problems.
