Cedar Creek 36CKTS vs Big Horn 3610RE

Looking at upgrading. I am leaning towards staying with Heartland, but wife wants to look around if we buy something new. Thoughts on the two models? Both are 2014. BH is 6k less

Some differences that I am thinking about

CC has 50amp twist lock in the middle of the camper. I do not like that. Needs to be in the rear. BH has power rewind power coord reel in the back

CC has a big resd type fridge that runs on an invertor when not plugged in. Very nice fridge.. BH has a norcold fridge, and the wife is saying she can't put a gallon of milk in there without removing a shelf. I have two friends with norcold fridges in slides that have issues with keeping them cool on hot days. Had to add fans to upper vent for fridge to work correctly.

Both have 6 point level system. :B

Basement layout is same on the BH as my BC so my outside fridge and all******will fit nice. the CC has a smaller access door but same size storage so I won't be able to put fridge on left hand side of storage due to smaller door.

CC has the newer style windows and BH has the frame windows. Not that big of a deal, since the newer windows don't open up very much.

CC has nice quiet air with returns up top instead of the typical air setup. Very quiet inside. BH has standard air units and is nosier inside.

CC has 66 fresh and BH has 72. I want at least 100gal fresh for long trips. Almost no core/state/county parks in IA have full hooks. That would prob have to be a factory upgrade and a custom order job.

The fridge in the CC is nice..

We have the same Amana w/ icemaker in our Daydreamer,,(when I think of how much money I wizzed away on frozen bags of water for my beer that Frau Blücher wouldn't let me put in the nor-cold,,,oh wait,,i remember, there wasn't any bloody room!!)I crindge!! My opinion about Cedar Creek is they simply build a better fiver then when you add what has to be the best after-the-sale factory customer service it's win-win across the board. When you see a guy smilin' around his fiver he probably has a Cedar Creek,do yourself a solid,"become a fellow Creeker".
  • You will be much happier if you get the one the wife likes.
  • Not sure which one is which, but the top pictured one has tv on the side which is awkward while lower one has two chairs across from tv. It also looks like the refer is going to be hard if at all possible to get to with slides closed on top layout while the bottom is a straight shot in the door. I would never have something where the refer wasn't usable when closed. JMO
  • It would be easier to get to the bathroom from the bedroom in the CC as opposed to having to walk around the door when you open it in the BC. Better tv viewing in the CC. No entry closet in the BC. Only negative for the CC is access to the kitchen when the slide is in. Like the pantry area. But that's not all that bad, so the CC wins for me.

You will be hard pressed to beat the customer service at Cedar Creek.

  • Is that carpet in the kitchen under the fridge and stove...that would be a deal breaker for me!!
