- rattleNsmokeExplorerI'm not sure if GD uses Lippert components(read-cheap garbage), but CC does. My triple steps almost killed me when those crappy rivets sheared off carrying a case of wine bottles. The frames and suspension have real bad reputations as well. Would I buy another CC......not sure.

Grand Design is a new company and they are trying to give good customer service. They also have interesting floor plans. CC makes a good 5ver. To each his own.
I've got a 369RL Solitude. This is my 3rd 5th wheel, and by far the nicest. I looked at literally 100's of 5th wheels before my purchase, but always found myself drawn back to the Solitude. And talking about service. I had a couple of bad LED lights, so the wife sent an email to GD's customer service. Within an hour I got a phone call from JD at Grand Design. I told him about the lights, and mentioned the DVD player wasn't showing video either. Long story short, he sent me 8 LED's with fixtures and a new DVD player. Oh yeah, all out of warranty by almost a year.

Being able to deal with Cedar Creek directly you avoid all that hassle as they are in YOUR corner! As an example of CC's dedication to their "creekers" last fall the clear-coat on my 07' Daydreamer was flaking off in patches and they completely re- clear-coated my Daydreamer at no cost and at my convinence because they "didn't want one of their trailers looking like that in public" aside from that when fixing various things or up-grading CC'S tech guys are always there to help. Do yourself a favor and buy a Cedar Creek and join the "creekers"!

C.B. - GoostoffExplorerOh BTW we bought our Creek just because we came across it for half of what it booked for. It was twice the trailer we were looking for at the same price we wanted to spend. :)
- GoostoffExplorer54 gallon to big or too small? Kinda leave the OP hanging there.
We love our creek but just like any trailer you buy it is still going to have all the usual RV components as any other. frig, stove, furnace, nuke box, fans, outlets, light switches, vents, furnature, lights, ect..... are all coming from the same factories in China. Set your goal on a trailer that feels like the structure was built nicely, and a floor plan that fits your style. Next step is to just buy it and enjoy.
We looked at new trailers last year. We stopped at the Heartland dealer and started walking around. The Big Horn was very nice and just felt good. The Big Country was pretty much the same way but seems like it was a little better value. When we got the the Elkridger we were shocked at how cheap it felt, and how poorly it was put together. Every one of them had these strange white blotches on the ceiling. It took us a while to figure out that it was touch up paint (that didnt match) because all the nailt or staples had rusted on all these brand new trailers. - gmcsmokeExplorer54 gallon fresh water? no thanks
- 2008WildcatExplorerYou will find many more CC owners than Solitude owners.
CC have been around for many years, and Solitudes are only 3 years old.
Search the internet for Grand Owners Forum and ask the actual owners how they like their rigs.
Oh, Solitude has an 18 cubic foot RV refer in them, so why use an all electric refer? - rmalik1ExplorerCedar Creek is what I own, and we all stick up for what we sunk 10's of thousands of Dollars into.
Here's some of the reason I bought a CC; First I looked and studied for over 5 years. Traveled to many dealership and shows in multiple states looking at everything, but studied the top 5'ers and their construction when I knew we would were getting close to retirement.Once I had the construction features that I thought were the most important. I transfer that information to the financial grouping I could afford. Which lead the wife and I to pick a Cedar Creek.
Construction features;that stood out to us were no lamination sidewalls CC use hung walls and no OSB flooring (just like DRV). Some of the other higher models had box frames like DRV or the old Carriage/Cameo products(now Lifestyle Luxury) which CC could not match, others had just a 12" I beam - which CC could match and there isn't much more that is different in construction of any other assembly line fifth wheel. New Horizon,Continental Coach,Spacecraft built per-order.
