Changing outdoor speakers

Sorry about that, I'm an audiophile. We're on our 6th-Gen audio system for camping and admittedly want to share our experience. I got my mil-spec Atrium 45s for $50 shipped off Ebay and built my own 200W Kenwood system that I run off my Optima AGM battery. You should stick with what works for you and not worry about quality sound. It's all good around the campfire! :B

Well I just had a leak two weekends ago during a grand rain storm that came in through the bottom of my speaker which has a small tear, well about 3" tear, across the bottom. Found out it has been raining in for a while and I never new it. Now I am replacing part of the floor with some new wood but feel lucky as it was just a small section. Now for the speakers, I had a 6.5" Jensen speakers with foam on the edge. I am going to replace them with a full poly speaker that has buetel rubber on the outside edge. I used a box knife to cut around and behind the speaker to get it to release. I also found the manufacturer did not use any caulk in the holes as they installed the screws so the holes are partly rotten. I found mine were screwed in with 4 screws and caulk around the outside and a bulk amount at the hole area. Of course if the screw holes had some caulk installed then the screws put in it would had sealed it. I have a toy hauler and camp out ridding my ATVs and Ranger. I can play my music without causing any problems for others. When I am home I play them to work in the yard and I live in the country so I have no neighbors to worry about. The only time I ever offended anyone at an RV park with my music was when I forgot to shut off the outside speakers and my neighbors were forced to listen to a Bat Man movie my kids were watching until I had a knock at my door which I apologized extensively. I actually was planning on seeing what were the best sounding speakers with something that would last and look well but I don't think the people in this thread could add much on that part. Anyway the OP now should know how to remove the speakers and how to install. If you want some pictures send me a note and I will take them. I have not ordered my new speakers yet as I am still researching. By the way, I looked at Bose but their speakers mount in the inside and protrude through the wall. They have a bass response unit that would feed down the inside of the wall and will not fit in my application and run about $298 for the pair. I also would ensure you do not purchase a set with the outside speaker attachment in foam as it breaks down.

Blaming loud music on the speakers is like blaming excessive speed on the tires.

We had a speaker go bad and it was replaced under warranty. To the replies that say don't replace out of respect for your camping neighbors. There are those of us who have the volume just enough to sit out under the awning and enjoy the music and the neighbors who use their outside speakers cannot be heard and pose no issues. Its the people who have boom boxes or need to have the head banging music on that are the problem, not the speakers!

Sorry-I guess I did manage to highjack your thread. Didn't want that to happen.

As others have said, you are probably dealing with a caulk or putty holding your speakers in place. Carefully go around the speaker with a sharp knife to break the seal.

i was going to say the same.I use my iphone and a bluetooth speaker thats as loud as you could or should need by Bose.The benifit of this is that you can use it and take it anywhere.Not just camping.I use it at the pool at home,out on back deck,anywhere.I have outdoor speakers on my fiver already but favor the bluetooth speaker for the ability to move it to where I am and direct it to where I am.Sounds better too.Just another option to think about.

Part of the problem with outdoor RV speakers is that people can't direct the sound, they can only crank up the volume. Wireless speakers gives more flexibility and you won't have to mess with that silicone either.
