clear coat bubbles ???
Hi
I have a 2006 keystone cougar 5th wheel.purchase used. When not in use it is parked in my driveway, uncovered. The sun shines a lot here in socal and the RV's left side gets a lot of it. About a year ago the decals started bubbling and cracking. upon closer inspection the bubbles look to be on the surface of the decals, not the decals them shelves. I called the dealer about the problem and they informed me that there is a clear spray coat put on the RV to make it shine when they have it detailed. They also gave me the number of the company who does the detailing. I contacted them and they cannot tell me what chemical (paint or wax) that they used, because depending on the need they use different types. The bubbles have now shown up on the fiberglass sides and when I wash the RV, they will actually fill with water and flake off. looks like a very thin sheet of plastic. Where the coating has come off is whiter than the rest of the trailer. leaving blotches of white and a yellowed coating.
I have tried to remove the coating with, a pressure washer, acetone, rubbing compound on a buffer, and steel wool. some comes off but very little. The decals look terrible also, enough that I am considering removing them.
Has anyone else had this problem? does anyone know a solution.
Please help I am going nuts over this.
