Converter ran all night

WFCO is also notorious for not shifting to boost mode (14.4 volts) when expected.
(especially the 55+ amp models)

Everyone that expects to get a fast charge on generator time should be verifying battery voltage.

FYI, the WFCO 8945 that you changed out was a 3 stage charger WFCO 8945

Perhaps the reason you are seeing faster charge rates with the PD is because you went from a 45 amp charger to a 60... ??

My WFCO converter did the same thing.

There are many 12 volt loads you may miss, like the propane detector, stereo, and fridge electronics. In addition to the furnace, fans, and lights that you notice.

Once the compartment the converter is in warms up (even though the outside temps drop at night) the heat out of the converter can be enough by itself to keep the fan on. Landing gear and slides pull a bunch out of the batteries when you are running, as well as the "missed" loads when traveling. The batteries may have ben at 80 or 90% when you were done setting up.

Is your converter loose, or integrated into the braker panel?

WFCO converter by chance? Mine was known to go into boost mode at random times and get stuck. Unplug and it would reset and act normal next time. Did you happen to measure voltage when the fan was running all night?

Wow great advice, I don't think it was heat that caused the fans to operate all night because it was a cold night, everything DC was off and we don't run the furnace after we go to bed. We were plugged into shore power so possibly it was trying to recharge my batteries but I just charged them before I left. there voltage read was 13 volts on Sunday 2 weeks after getting home. I do like the idea of swapping it out is it a confusing and difficult task, I can wire my house but I don't have the same confidence level here?

The battery terminals will read 12.6-7 VDC when fully charged and you should never let them get discharged below 12.0VDC. If you read your battery while plugged into shore power it will read the DC OUTPUT of your converter/charger unit. You need to make DC VOLTAGE measurements on the battery terminals while the trailer is not connected to shore power to know for sure what the level actually is...

Also for a battery voltage reading to meaningful, the battery should be a rest for 24hrs. No charge or dis-charge during that period. If it then reads 12.6-12.7 volts it is in usable condition. Below that indicates that it should be replaced.

It may have been charging the batteries, this is very normal....

Or like rvten said heat will make it stay on. If it is in a cabinet that has other heat generating items. Low battery will also pull a lot of current as well. Running a max air fan can pull current. Or just poor ventilation in the cabinet it is mounted in. Several items in the RV are 12 volt besides the lights.
